VMworld Europe 2016 will be a memorable one for me, not only because I will be returning to the event after a one year hiatus, but also because something very special is going to happen.

Let me explain… last August, at VMworld US 2016 in Las Vegas, VMUG Leaders gathered for the traditional lunch with VMware Execs (including Pat Gelsinger).Every year there is a ceremony where a few Leaders are publicly mentioned for their commitment and their efforts for the VMUG community. This is when people who have gone the extra mile for the community are acknowleged at the presence of their peers.

So you can imagine my reaction when I noticed this tweet in my timeline:

I had been awarded the VMUG President’s Award for “my support to the larger mission of the global VMUG organization” together with Matt Heldstab!

WOW!

I am not sure why I have been chosen, but I know how much VMUG and the vCommunity in general are close to my heart, so… yeah! I accept this award with pride! Why VMworld Europe then? Because there will be a similar ceremony and I will be able to collect the award there, in front of so many of my friends from the Italian VMUG… and other European groups!

The other great news is that I have been asked to join the delegates group at Tech Field Day Extra in Barcelona. That is a great honor for me, I am not sure if I deserve it but I’d like to thank Stephen Foskett for the opportunity, for sure I will be my best to gain the most from this experience and to contribute to the event with my inputs, questions, tweets (check the #TFDx hashtag) and possibly blogposts!

See you there in one month!
